Personal Care

Bristles for grooming

VESTAMID® compounds from Evonik are used in body care wherever filaments are required. Toothbrushes with VESTAMID® D bristles are already a classic. The application of VESTAMID® Terra HS in this area is new, however, as is the use of VESTAMID® HTplus F1001 and F2001, the only PPA compounds from which filaments can be drawn. Processed into bristles for hairbrushes, these ensure that nothing stands between you and your cool coiffure.

For a brilliant smile

Teeth should be brushed at least twice a day, and dentists recommend that toothbrushes be changed every two months. If you want to be sure that your toothbrush is doing its job correctly right to the end of this period, we recommend bristles of polyamide 612 VESTAMID® D or PA 610 VESTAMID® Terra HS. Because the best brushing technique is only as good as the material used for the bristles:

  • Thanks to its excellent rebound resilience VESTAMID® ensures that bristles retain their shape and form.
  • The compounds are easily processed to give bristles of varying quality, from soft to hard, for children as well as adults.
  • They allow a large variety of geometric shapes, and are easily colored.
  • Fillers such as sodium fluoride in children's toothbrushes and antimicrobial additives can be incorporated into the material.
  • And it goes without saying that VESTAMID® polymer materials for toothbrush bristles satisfy the requirements for substances coming into contact with oral mucous membranes (Commission Directive 2002/72/EC and FDA regulations).

For a cool coiffure

Hairstyling sometimes needs heat: hairdryers are used to coax unruly locks into shape or to give body to straight hair. If the bristles of the hairbrushes are to retain their shape during styling, the materials used must be able to withstand temperature spikes without damage—as do polyphthalamide filaments of VESTAMID® HTplus F1001 and F2001.

  • VESTAMID® HTplus is highly heat resistant and dimensionally stable, and easily withstands high temperatures even over fairly long periods. This makes it suitable for bristles in styling brushes.
  • Its extremely high chemical resistance means that it is not affected by styling mousse, hair spray, perfume, or hand cream.
  • The compounds are easily processed to give different variants and allow modification of geometry and color to satisfy all your styling needs.
