VESTAMID® for flame-retardant and abrasion-resistant profiles

Aeronautics and aerospace applications require flame retardant materials for safety reasons. For extruded cable duct covers on the floor of the passenger cabin of airliners and in cargo planes, Evonik offers VESTAMID® extrusion compounds containing flame retardants, which are distinguished by high mechanical strength and abrasion resistance, as well as very good resistance to chemicals and stress cracks. Through the use of halogen-free, non-migrating flame retardants, they satisfy flame retardancy criteria as defined in FAR 25.853 and ABD 0031.

Low-viscosity VESTAMID® X7166 and high-viscosity VESTAMID® X7167 are heat-stabilized polyamide 12 compounds with a non-migrating flame retardant that is free of halogen and phosphorus; both can be classified as V-0 under UL94. Both of these compounds are suitable as materials for components produced by extrusion or injection molding.

VESTAMID® X7229 is a high-viscosity, plasticized, flame-retardant polyamide 12 compound that is free of halogen and phosphorus. It satisfies the FAR 25.853 and ABD 0031 requirements of the aviation industry. The compound can be extruded as well as injection molded.
